Single Seal - Flushing Water Piping

In order for the Single Seal to work well, it must charge the stuffing box chamber properly. The outlet piping is gauged to monitor the internal pressure, paired with a throttling valve to increase or decrease the desired seal pressure.

Double Seal - Flushing Water Piping

The Double Seal is designed to control the internal stuffing box chamber pressure.
Cold flushing water is used to disperse heat generated within the two internal sealing stages and a gauge is placed at the discharge port to properly and easily monitor internal pressure during the seal's life span.

After the monitoring gauge is installed, a throttling gauge is put in place to allow the mill to increase or decrease seal pressure. Now, the venturi throttling valve is installed. This valve remains open during start-up and allows internal venturi heat to escape. The venturi valve will remain empty until seal failure occurs. When this happens, it will receive excess flushing water, not allowing it to escape.

Now, even though seal failure has occurred, the pump can be scheduled for repairs at a later and more convenient time.
